Tips for Using Excel

In Your Browser:

  • To start, create a blank workbook, or use a template
  • To share your workbook...
    • Click on the Share tab in the top right corner
    • Enter the name or email address you want to share it with, and it will send them a link
    • Or, you can copy the link and send it in any format you desire
  • To save, do nothing! Excel automatically saves your work for you

In the Desktop App

  • To start, create a blank workbook, or search to use a template
  • To share your workbook...
    • Click on the Share tab in the top right corner
    • Enter the name or email address you want to share it with, and if you want them to be able to edit, or just view
    • Click share and it will send them a link
  • To save, press Ctrl + S or click File, then Save

Keyboard Shortcuts (for Windows):

  • Undo: Ctrl + Z
  • Redo: Ctrl + Y
  • Save: Ctrl + S
  • Copy: Ctrl + C
  • Paste: Ctrl + V
  • Move one cell up, down, left, or right: up, down, left, or right key respectively
  • Select All: Ctrl + A
  • Auto expand cell to fit: Hover over the line between columns and double click
