Frequently Asked Question
Will Media Services support an event without a ticket?
Last Updated 6 years ago
This is one of our most frequent questions. The easy answer is no, and here's why:
1) Our team is spread across two major departments: Music and IT. Both utilize the ticket system. The tickets that you submit outline exactly what you need for your event, what and when other team members have responded, and allows team members to communicate to fully support your needs.
2) The ticket system allows us to look back on similar events and ask you more specific questions based on previous needs. Although it may seem that an email will do the same thing, emails are easily lost, deleted, or forgotten, and are not always confidential.
3) Since about 90% of events around campus are student-supported, we need time to work around our students' schedules.
When in doubt, please submit a ticket. You may have talked to one of the team members about your event, but we're human and busy and it can easily slip through the cracks.
Please submit a ticket more than 1 week prior to the event. This gives us essential room for scheduling and getting more details from you as needed. Events in the MEC need an excess of 3 weeks prior notice because there are more elements to coordinate than can be done in 1 week.
Thank you for your cooperation!
