Clearing your browser's cache

The cache saves common elements of websites that a user visits frequently, in order to make up for slow internet connections. Sometimes, the cache gets confused, resulting in partially loaded, badly formatted web pages, incomplete pictures, or even the wrong picture in the wrong place. Clearing your cache allows those functions to reset and rebuild from scratch.

To clear your cache on Microsoft Edge:
1. Click the three dotsĀ in the upper right corner of the browser.
2. Go to "Settings".
3. Select "Privacy."
4. Under "Clear browsing data, "Choose what to clear."
5. Check only the box labeled "Cached images and files" in the next dialog box, and click "Clear now".

To clear your cache on Firefox:
1. Push the "Alt" key on your keyboard. Some drop down options should appear at the very top left of your browser.
2. Select "Tools" then "Settings".
3. Select the "Privacy & Security" tab, then scroll down to History
4. Select "Clear History..." and in the drop down box for "Time range to clear", select "Everything"
5. Check only the "cache" box. Click "Clear Now"

To clear your cache on Chrome:
1. At the top right of your browser, click the menu button. (It has three dots and it is located next to the profile picture.)
2. Select "History."
3. Choose "Clear browsing data"
4. Make sure the drop-down next to "Time Range:" is set to "all time."
5. Check only "Cached images and files".
6. Click "Clear data."

To clear your cache on Safari:
1. After opening Safari, click "Safari" next to the apple at the top left of your screen.
2. Select "Preferences".
3. Under the "Advanced" tab of the resulting window, check the box at the very bottom, labeled "Show Develop menu in menu bar". (This will make clearing your cache a more visible option.)
4. Close the preference window.
5. Select "Develop" from the menu bar at the top of your screen.
6. Click "Empty Caches."
*In the future, you will be able to simply complete steps 5-6 to clear your cache.

Following these instructions should clear any cache-related issues.
